Recycled textiles and folk fabrics are the building blocks of the SUNSET MAKERS brand.
They provide the starting point of any new collection and each one-of-one piece is carefully constructed to celebrate each unique fabric.
Every new textile provides a distinctive texture, pattern, & color which ultimately determine the final form.
The silhouettes are designed to layer effortlessly and we hope each new garment will reflect your personality perfectly.
Cut, sewn, & finished in Los Angeles— Each one of one piece is designed by SIMON MILLER in our downtown workshop.
As is the case for all Sunset garments - our jackets are made slowly and built to last.

THE BIG KAT
The Kat coat is the signature item of the SUNSET MAKERS Co. collection.
Based on the classic workwear jacket of the mid-century the KAT coat is Sunset’s interpretation of this iconic American garment.
Traditionally a highly utilitarian piece built to withstand harsh environments and working conditions Chore coats, or “Engineer Jackets” were an essential part of the manufacturing era designed for laborers, railroad workers and farmers.
For the 2026 collection Sunset has designed a modernized version - still cut oversize for versatile use with plenty of room for layers. It is sewn in various fabrications throughout each collection – although most iconically in the blanket textiles shown below.
Sunset Makers pays homage to the classic coat with a modernized version for everyday use but maintains a focus on elevated construction and perfect fit.
CASS CARDIGAN
The Cass cardigan is derived from authentic engineer coats of the mid-19th century.
The collarless design was originally introduced for railway workers to prevent chafing while moving around the hot trains and locomotives.
From that starting point the Cass Cardigan evolved into a softer design for Spring 2026.
Featured in recycled textiles in a variety of textures, colors and finishes.
